Animal-Alert Hotline

(717) 397-8922

The heart and soul of ORCA's services to the community rests in the hands of an extraordinary group of individuals who answer the hotline every day. The hotline is manned almost exclusively by volunteers and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Armed with a detailed manual, these volunteers can provide the caller with vital instructions and information or, if necessary, refer him or her to an appropriate agency. Trained ORCA volunteers assist pet owners, non-pet owners and the general public, as well as police, fire, and other emergency personnel facing an animal problem.

Aid to Animals in Distress

ORCA regularly picks up injured or ill stray animals in response to calls from concerned citizens, police or other emergency personnel. We provide necessary veterinary care and in some cases, a foster home until the animal can be placed in a permanent residence.

ORCA maintains a regularly updated database of lost and found animals in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

The organization also investigates complaints of cruelty or neglect of domestic animals. ORCA investigates and pursues ALL complaints until the issue is resolved.

Please bear in mind that ORCA is the ONLY group in Lancaster County that provides emergency services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to help our area animals!

Pet Placement/Referral Service

ORCA is committed to finding good homes for pets in need. People who can no longer care for their pet and those looking to adopt an animal should contact ORCA to see if we can find a potential match in our files. Prospective owners can also look in local newspapers for other ORCA animals ready for adoption.

Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Program

With the cooperation of a few area veterinarians ORCA can send out a lower cost spay neuter application which includes instructions, price and veterinarian information to help you get your pet spayed/neutered at a specific lower price.

ORCA can help refer people with feral stray cats to various trap and release programs.
